counselling

My counselling practice is dedicated to assisting the individuals, couples, teens and families who consult me when problems overtakeLink to Credits Page to see who created these beautiful photos. their lives and relationships. Clients bring a wide range of presenting concerns, including:
  • broken relationships
  • family conflicts
  • loss and bereavement
  • depression and anxiety
  • career and vocation
  • traumas past and present
I often meet with people at important transitions in the seasons of their lives:  preparing for marriage, navigating parenting challenges, facing the loss of work or a loved one, untangling the web of family relationships.  Common to all situations is the hope and desire that life can be better.

coaching

I believe that counselling and coaching can be a powerful force for change. Where counselling and psychotherapy seek inspiration to dislodge the mental hold that problems have on our lives - coaching guides the perspiration needed for the hard work of personal and relational change.

Coaching is provided through my research and client services associate, Silvia de la Fé González. Silvia is an experienced consultant, adult educator and mediator. She offers an optimistic attitude and a strong commitment to shaping reflective, self-directed experiences for those who have a desire to grow personally and professionally. Silvia was a student intern in my practice 2009-2010 while she completed a Diploma in Peace and Conflict Studies at Conrad Grebel University College (University of Waterloo).

Coaching is cost effective. The introductory fee for coaching in my practices is $50/hour. Coaching often occurs in four meeting blocks with a collaborative assessment in the fourth meeting. In this collaborative service, I supervise Silvia's work, progress notes and stay abreast of client development.

consultation

I provide client-centred consultation to colleagues and organizations who feel the therapeutic process has become "stuck" and desire fresh eyes and ears to offer new perspectives. I also consult with community service groups, such as All Aboard Youth Ventures, home of the River Restaurant on Roncesvalles Avenue.

I have provided on-site support and trauma consultation with organizations such as The Salvation Army and Gurza International following tragic workplace losses.
